The sage sets up the hexagrams to observe the phenomena, which are related to the words! And the good and bad are clear, and the hardness and softness are pushed together to produce changes. Therefore, good and bad are the symbols of gains and losses; regrets and stinginess are the symbols of worry and misfortunes; changes are the symbols of advancement and retreat; hardness and softness are the symbols of day and night. The movement of the six lines is the way of the three poles.
Therefore, what a gentleman lives and feels at ease in is the preface of "Yi"; what he enjoys and plays with is also the words of Yao. Therefore, when a gentleman is at home, he observes its appearance and plays with its words; when it is in motion, he watches its changes and plays with its possessions. This is because God has blessed him with good fortune and no disadvantage.
