Xici Biography·Chapter 5·Full Text
Author:
"Book of Changes" says, "When you come and go with longing, your friends will think about you." Confucius said: "What does the world think about and worry about? The world all returns to the same destination by different roads, and is unified and has a hundred worries. What does the world think about and worry about? When the sun goes, the moon comes, and when the moon goes, the sun comes, and the sun and the moon push each other and the sun comes. When the cold goes, the summer comes, and the summer goes, the cold comes, and the cold and the heat push each other. Years have passed. Those who have gone have been convinced, and those who have come are convinced. The bend of the inchworm is to seek faith; the sting of the dragon and snake is to preserve the body, so that it can be used; to make use of it is to respect the virtue. It is possible to understand it; to understand and transform it is to flourish. "
"Book of Changes" said: "Trapped in a stone, anchored in thorns, entering his palace, not seeing his wife, it is bad luck." Confucius said: "It is not trapped but trapped, and the name will be disgraced. If it is not trapped, but anchored, the body will be in danger. Since it is humiliated and in danger, the time of death is approaching, but he can see his wife!"
"Book of Changes" said: "There is no disadvantage in shooting a falcon on a high mountain. There is no disadvantage in catching it." Confucius said: "The falcon is a bird; the bow and arrow are a weapon; the one who shoots it is a human being. A gentleman hides the weapon in his body and waits for the time to move. Why is there any disadvantage? Moving but not covering up, it is because it comes out and gets something, and the person who moves the weapon becomes a weapon."
Confucius said: "A villain is neither shameful nor benevolent, is not afraid of injustice, does not persuade without seeing benefit, and does not punish without intimidation. It is the blessing of a villain to punish a small person without admonishment. "Yi" says: "The toe will be wiped out when walking in school, and there will be no blame.' This is what it means."
"If good deeds are not accumulated, it is not enough to become famous, and if evil deeds are not accumulated, it is not enough to destroy the body. Villains regard small good deeds as useless and cannot do them, and small evil deeds as harmless and cannot be removed. Therefore, evil deeds cannot be covered up, and sins are serious and unexplainable. "Yi" says: "How to destroy the ear, it is evil.""
Confucius said: "Those who are in danger are those who secure their position; those who are dead are those who preserve their existence; those who are in chaos are those who govern. Therefore, a gentleman is safe but does not forget danger, survives without forgetting death, and governs without forgetting chaos. This is because his body is safe and the country can be protected. "Yi" said: "Its death and its death are tied to the buds.""
Confucius said: "The virtue is weak but the position is high, the knowledge is small but the plan is big, the strength is small but the responsibility is heavy, and it is rare to be inferior to it. "Yi" said: "The tripod breaks the foot and covers the public servant. Its shape is rich and fierce." Words are not enough for its task."
Confucius said: "It's amazing to know how many things you have! A gentleman does not flatter his superiors and does not blaspheme his subordinates. How can he know how nearly? How many are there? The slightest movement is a sign of foresight. The gentleman sees what is coming and acts without waiting until the end of the day.
The heaven and earth are dense, and everything is mellow. Men and women form essences, and all things are transformed into beings. "Book of Changes" says: "If three people act together, one person will lose; if one person acts alone, they will gain their friends." ’ The words are consistent.
Confucius said: "A gentleman calms his body before moving, calms his mind before speaking, and calms his communication before asking for it. A gentleman cultivates these three, so he is all in one. If he moves when he is in danger, the people will not cooperate; if he is afraid of speaking, the people will not respond; if he asks without communication, the people will not cooperate; if he does not cooperate, he will be hurt. "The Book of Changes" says: "Don't help it, or attack it, don't stand firm, it will be evil."
